ABOUT TITLE 1

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Title 1?

Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA) provides federal funding to  schools. These funds are used to provide programing that helps all students meet grade level state academic standards and assessments.

What does Title 1 programing look like in Isle?

In Isle, Title 1 staff work one-on-one with students every day for 10 minutes at a time to develop specific reading or math skills.  This occurs during small group or independent work time, and is in addition to the core instruction that students receive from their teacher.

How do students qualify for Title 1 services?

Isle has a school-wide Title 1 program, meaning that all students are eligible for Title 1 services.  School-wide assessments and classroom data are used to determine which students will receive Title 1 services.  Classroom and Title 1 teachers work together to determine which skills will be targeted for each student, and what intervention will be most effective.
